Though, the bulk of the community, this may not sound like a resounding number but all together there is at least 40 active players when enough arrangement is made. There are 14 dedicated servers still in existence. Most often I am told by a client that they did not see servers in the in-game browser and believed there to be no servers at all, until they searched google with no mercy and came across either our links or another communities links where they could get support for the game.Įvery time we've gained someone through this method, I've showed them just how many servers are still in existence and more often than not they're taken aback at how these communities have been right under their nose this entire time. The other problem is setting up a way for all the servers to be visible in the in-game browsers again, there is some alternative(s) in that aspect but they involve editing files that would need to be shared with clients. It surprises both me and them at the same time. I've come across a few of the elder players who've come back to enjoy this game.

That was until he one day came across a few sites making mention of active BFV communities. If I had to tell you that, very recently, a gentleman aged 68 approached me to assist him with his game and is currently an active player amongst our communities, would this surprise you at all? He had left the game when gamespy went down and believed BFV to be dead in the water in regard to online play. Getting their games to run on windows is not the problem, getting their actual games is the problem. Is this by any chance going to change? I fully realize this game is extremely old and likely not viewable as an asset anymore, but it's like a second home to a lot of us in this community. EA, to my knowledge, has not provided support in the sense of distributing the game again either via third party sellers or via their own platforms. So much so in fact that persons aged 16+ have approached all of us to try and help them find a copy of the game. Is it old? Yes, it's very old but it has aged so well. It's becoming increasingly difficult though for people who still have yet to play this game.

We keep doing it, keep it up and running for the players to find and enjoy this old game with fellow players. Myself and at least two others I know of in the BFV server world have this knowledge. From troubleshooting client side issues running the game to server side attacks by disgruntled players. I come from an ex clan that supported and now myself personally manage a dedicated server for Battlefield Vietnam (this is not advertising I promise), the point behind saying that is - I have gained a lot of experience with this old game. I'm reaching out in a bid to revive this old game.
